I wrote this tutorial for a challenge for the Graphics Groove. A truly awesome group!
This tutorial is the property of Liss’ PSP Korner and may not be copied in any way. You may however link to it without asking. Any similarities to any other tutorial is purely coincidental. That said, let’s get started!
This tutorial was written in PSP 8 but it will work just as well in 7. Unzip the file and place the masks in your PSP mask folder. If you are using PSP 8 the Edge Oval mask comes with the program. I provided it for those of you with PSP 7. Open the corners1 font and minimize it. It will show up in PSP this way without you having to install it. If you already have PSP open you may need to close it and reopen it for the masks to show.
Open your image in PSP. Using your eye dropper tool choose a color for your foreground from your image. I used #C75879. Add a new raster layer to your image and flood fill with your foreground color. Go to Masks/ load from disk and search for Edge Oval. Make sure you have invert transparency checked and hit ok. The go to Masks/ Delete mask and choose yes when it asks if you want to merge it with the layer below it.
Add a new raster layer. Choose another lighter color form your image. I used #E196AA. Flood fill the new layer and go to Masks/ Load from disk and find iroval. Make sure invert transparency is still checked and hit ok then delete mask. Next go to Effects/3D/drop shadow and use the following settings.
Add a new raster layer and select your text tool. Make your background color the same as you did for the second mask…the lighter color. Again I used #E196AA. Make your foreground color null. Font is corners1 size 90 floating and antialias checked. Type a capitol C or what ever you’d like. Place it in the corner of your image. Duplicate that layer and go to image mirror. Duplicate that layer and image flip. Duplicate that one and image mirror. You should now have it in all your corners. Close all your layers except the corners and merge visible. Add the same drop shadow except change the horizontal and vertical to 1. Ok now go to layers/merge all flatten.
Go to image/add border and using a color that contrasts with your image add a symmetrical border of 5. Select it with your magic wand and flood fill with your lighter color (#E196AA) While still selected go to Effects/3D/inner bevel and use the frame preset. Selections/select none.
Add another border of 20. Select it with the magic wand and flood fill with your darker color (#C75879). Deselect.
Add another border of 5 and select it. Flood fill with your lighter color (#E196AA). While still selected add the same inner bevel.
Now select your inside darker border with the magic wand. Go to effects/Plugins/Simple/Diamonds and click ok. Then go to simple filters againa and choose 4 way average. Don’t deselect! Go to Effects/3D/cutout and use the following settings. Deselect.
You’re done! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions you can email me here.
